As I read and edit content around the web I’ve been exposed to a lot of writing – good and bad.

I can’t write well I’ll admit that upfront but I do know what reads well and what doesn’t (better than I write anyway). So I created this shit-list to help me with training writers and myself on what just sucks to see.

I’ll update this over time but for now its a straight up list of phrases and words that I don’t want to see in writing when I am working with someone.

  1. Whether X or Y / Whether you are looking for/need X or Y
  2. Let’s delve into X
  3. Lets explore the world of X
  4. Div into / Lets Dive Into the world of X
  5. If you’re simply looking to do X or Y – Especially when talking about a customer problem. If someone has spent the time to Google it and find a post or video on it, to them it’s probably not simple.
